Cutey Review and Giveaway

Cutey is a local Leicestershire company that was set up last year. Their specialties are charm bracelets and costume jewellery. The charm bracelets are a mixture of silver charms and glass beads and come in a variety of styles and colours. I was sent the Philotes bracelet to review:

It comes in lovely packaging with a cutey tag. The charms are lovely being a couple of stars and a handbag along with some gorgeous pink beads. Retailing at £12.99 I think this would be a fabulous present. If I was being super picky I would like the bracelet to be just a couple of centimetres longer so that I had a bit more wiggle room!

As the people at cutey are so lovely, they have also given me this fabulous Hemera bracelet to giveaway:

The colours and charms of the bracelet are absolutely lovely and would match lots of different outfits.

To enter and win all you need to do is visit the cutey site here and then come back and leave me a comment letting me know which is your favourite item. Brownie points for anyone who also tweets about it. Alternatively you can follow cutey on Facebook.

Closing date is Sunday, 4th March at 5pm. Good luck :-)

Susan Lewis - One day at a time giveaway

As I mentioned over on the main blog yesterday I have FOUR copies of Susan’s latest book to giveaway which isn’t even released until Thursday!!!

The blurb about the book:

She was only nine when her world fell apart. The struggle to understand took a lifetime. In 1960s Bristol, Susan's family was like any other with its joys and frustrations, and fierce loyalties. Then tragedy struck and left a legacy that was to last a lifetime. Susan was only nine when her mother died.

A year later she was sent away to school. She didn't want to go, and didn't understand why she had to. In her struggle to cope with an uncertain world - a world where nothing seemed to make sense any more - she pushed away the one person she loved best, her father. It wasn't until adulthood beckoned that she realised that, in order to turn their relationship around, she had to learn to love - and trust - again.

This is Susan talking about writing the book and how difficult but therapeutic it was to write:

To enter all you need to do is pop over to Susan’s Facebook page and say hi and then leave me a comment below letting me know that you’ve done so.

Closing date is Sunday, 13th November at Midnight and winners will be chosen at random after this time. Good Luck!!

Back to School with Tesco – Win £15 of school uniform

This Giveaway is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways.

Chick is obsessed with all things back to school. It starts before she’s even finished for the Summer. She gets a back to school ‘look book’ from Tesco and then carefully pours over each item marking off very carefully what she would like!! Once this painstaking part is over we then have to trek the aisles of Tesco making sure that it all lives up to her very high standards!!!

As she is so obsessed with it, I tend to be one of those horribly organised people that has all of the uniform ready, with names written on each item, stacked up and ready to go and this year is no exception. Chick saw an advert on the TV when Tesco were running the £15 bundle offer and we bought one of those and got her winter coat etc.

Another great thing that Tesco have this year is the ‘buy one, give one’ campaign. Basically you buy an item of uniform from their fair-trade range and Tesco donate a full uniform to a child in Sri Lanka, Kenya or Bangladesh. I love this scheme as we generally can’t afford to give a vast amount to charity but I feel that this helps in a positive way.

Last year Tesco sent us a box of school uniform and we were lucky enough to receive another box yesterday, with some fabulous items enclosed. Chick is obviously over the moon with her uniform haul:

I think my favourite thing (apart from the fair-trade polo shirts) was this awesome tag which accompanied the box......how lovely and thoughtful:

For those of you that still have a few bits left to buy Tesco have given me a £15 voucher to giveaway. To enter just visit the Tesco website and then leave me a comment telling me which items of uniform you still need to buy.  Closing date is Friday, 2nd September at 5pm. Good Luck :-)

*A huge thank you to Tesco for sending us the uniform and a £30 voucher for me to buy something for myself!!!

To celebrate my bloggiversary the lovely people at Argos have very kindly agreed to donate a prize for this giveaway worth £50!!!!

Barbie

I'm sure all of you have heard of Argos but for those that haven't.....you pick up a catalogue instore, decide which goods you would like to buy and then either order online or visit the store to collect your goods.....simple!! I don't know about you or your children but Chick religiously uses the Argos catalogue to compose her birthday and Christmas lists!!!!

I spent ages looking through the book trying to decide what would be a lovely prize to giveaway.....some toys maybe? Or a new barbie for Chick or some lovely characters from  sylvanian families. Then it occurred to me that with Christmas not being too far away a gift voucher would be a brilliant idea because then you could spend it exactly as you choose!!!

To enter the competition all you need to do is leave me a comment below telling me exactly what you would buy from Argos if you won the £50 voucher. A winner will be picked at random. Good Luck :-)

Bloggiversary Giveaway - Day 4 Olivia Rubin Scarves

This Giveaway is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways.

Something that you probably don't know about me is that I'm a bit of a Fashionista. I know that I don't look like one but that's only because I've never been skinny enough!!! When I was young I used to pour over magazines, staring at the clothes and wishing that I had enough money to buy designer items. I don't mean like trainers and track suits but more elegant tailoring.....weird I know!! I think maybe it's where my shoe obsession comes from....

So talking about shoes....I'd seen Olivia Rubin's designs around for the past few years now and loved them with their funky patterns. When I heard that she was doing a project with Bold 2-in-1 I got quite excited at the thought that I may finally be able to own something of hers. Imagine my joy when the lovely Vicki contacted me and asked me if I would like an Olivia Rubin scarf and not only that but did I want to give two away to my readers!!! I think she may still have the teeth marks from how quickly I bit her arm off to say yes!!!
As I said Olivia has teamed up with Bold 2-in-1 and the floral freshness of Rose Blush & Peony. Olivia says 'The stunning flower markets in London inspired my design for the exclusive scarf for the launch of Bold 2-in-1, infusing all the vibrant shades into a key accessory'. The washing powder has a unique scent release technology which means that even after 3 weeks in storage in your wardrobe you will be able to smell the scent of Rose & Peony.

Eeeek so back to the excitement of actually owning something bona-fida designer.......this is the lovely box it arrived in and all covered in rose petals too:
I also took lots of pictures to try and show you just how beautiful the scarf is:

ermmmmmm........and this is me rocking the look......attached to my bag as you never know what the weather is going to be like from one minute to the next!:

So now over to you.......To be in with a chance of winning all you need to do is leave me a comment below telling me how you what outfit you would accessorise with this scarf. You could also follow me here or over at my main blog :-) Simple right???

Closing date is Friday, 2nd September at 5pm. Good Luck :-)

Bloggiversary Giveaway Day 2 - HMS Belfast Gun Turret Experience

This Giveaway is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways.

We have a family ticket on offer for you to go and explore the HMS Belfast. It's a floating museum on the Thames in London and is part of the Imperial War Museum. I'm very excited about this giveaway mainly because we are going to experience it on our next trip to London and it's awesome that I can giveaway a ticket as well.

They have recently added the new gun turret experience to enable children and grown ups alike to get a feeling of what it would have been like to fight at sea. It uses lights, imagery, sound, smoke effects and movement to recreate the cramped turret with its crews at action!!! I give me about 2 minutes before I get scared ;-) This video gives you a brilliant whistle stop tour:

The ship is based just a short walk from London Bridge and Tower bridge and you can explore all 9 decks!!!

The ship saw action in the Second World War and the Korean war and is bought to life through temporary exhibitions, displays and historic spaces all put together with the help of Royal Navy Veterans and eye witness accounts from the Imperial War Museum.

All images courtesy of the Imperial War Museum

To enter this giveaway all you need to do is leave a comment on this post. You can also check out the Imperial War Museum website or follow them on Twitter.

Closing date is Friday, 2nd September at 5pm. Good Luck :-)

*This prize is a family ticket to the HMS Belfast only and does NOT include travel or accommodation. The prize is for two adults as children go free.

Bloggiversary Giveaway Day 1 - Casdon Toy Dyson

This Giveaway is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways.

The blurb: The hottest vacuum cleaner to date from the Dyson stable, the Casdon version features an imitation vortex that spins coloured beads making it look and sound like it's really working. The detachable wand has working vacuum action which can pick up small pieces of paper or poly beads. The toy also includes detachable tools on board. Height 69 cm. Requires 4 x C batteries, not included. 3 years +.

Chick and her friend Miss.C both used to have one of these when they were younger and what they both liked about it was the fact that it did actually pick bits up off of the floor......only small bits admittedly, but they enjoyed helping with the housework. It's aimed at ages 3+ due to the small pieces contained inside (I guess!!) but I would have had no problem with Chick using this at a younger age.....supervised of course!
The Dyson retails at around £20 and the model that I have to giveaway is actually grey & yellow so a little more unisex than the model shown in the pictures.

To enter you just need to leave a comment below explaining how you would review this item......it's as simple as that.

You can also check out the brilliant Toys R Us Toybox application on Facebook. Closing date is Friday, 2nd September at 5pm. Good Luck :-)

*This giveaway is courtesy of the Toys R Us Toyology programme.

Moon Dough Giveaway

As you know we received our first Toys R Us box a couple of weeks ago and we've been busy playing, constructing, playing and filming the fun that we've been having in order to bring you some (hopefully) great reviews!!! To kick off proceedings I thought that we would start with a lovely giveaway!!!!

I have this fab Moon Dough Ice Cream Sundae set to giveaway! Unfortunately Chick thinks that she's too old to play with stuff like this now but I would still love to get my hands on some!! The cool thing about Moon Dough is that it doesn't dry out.....nothing worse than buying a similar product and finding that the kids have left the lid off and it's ruined. It's possible to stack it, cut it, mould it and stick it.

Included in the set is a playmat, coloured dough,  scoops, cones and moulds so that your kids can create their own ice cream sundaes.

I love that it's so bright and colourful as well as unisex.

The Moon Dough Ice Cream Sundae set retails at £14.99 and is available to buy on the Toys R Us website.

To review the toys last year we did slideshows, videos and written reviews but I would love to be a little more creative this year. So to enter it would be fabulous if you could leave me a comment with any great or creative ideas that you have for reviewing the toys. Alternatively you could just offer to review this and share it with us all!! You should also pop by the Toys R Us Facebook page to keep up to date with all the news, competitions and of course to check out some of the amazing reviews from the other Toyologists.

Competition will close on Friday, 15th July at 5pm and winners will be announced soon after. Good Luck :-)

Review - Hexbug Nano

This Giveaway is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways.

We received the HEXBUG nano's a few weeks ago but if I'm honest they look so evil I left them on the side and didn't dare to open them!!!  The little critters look like this:
They are so realistic as they scuttle across the floor that you will want to lift up your feet and run away from them!! It moves along by vibrations, makes a buzzing noise and can flip over by itself. Chick has made mazes for them, watched them flip over and chased them around the kitchen for hours! A word of warning though......they are sneaky little suckers and scuttle into the tiniest little places, hence I've had to retrieve them from under the fridge, down the side of the washing machine and Chick knocked over a whole shelf of CD's trying to get one back from under the TV!!!! Obviously because they are such a menace Chick and her cousin absolutely adore them!!

As well as the single bugs, you can also buy them in collector packs and just in time for Santa coming you can also buy their 'habitat', bridges and cells too! Each bug comes with it's own unique code which you enter online and keep track of your collection.

The HEXBUG nano's are available to buy online and start at £8.99 for the singles. Courtesy of the lovely people at HEXBUG I have one to giveaway. To win just leave me a comment below! Of course if you'd like to become a follower here or on Facebook that would be quite delightful too :-)

Closing Date is Friday, 17th December at 5pm and I promise to try my best to post it out on the 18th so that you'll have it in time for Christmas!!!

Sea Band Giveaway

This competition is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways!

Motion Sickness and Travel Sickness Relief using Sea-Bands

Sea-Band acupressure wristbands have been providing nausea relief to millions of people for over 20 years. They work fast and effectively for all types of nausea including travel and morning sickness.

·         Sea-Bands work using the principles of Acupressure.
·         Sea-Bands are non invasive and drug free.
·         The plastic stud on Sea-Bands applies a continuous pressure on each wrist relieving the feeling of nausea.
·         Sea-Bands can be used for Motion Sickness, Morning Sickness (Pregnancy Nausea and Vomiting), Chemotherapy related Nausea and Post-Operative Nausea.

I was sent some sea bands to try out as both Chick and I get a little travel sick and I must admit that at first I was a little sceptical, but they really do work!!!  I’ve worn them on a couple of trips as a passenger and it was so nice not to be nauseous in the car. I really wish that I would’ve known about them years ago when I was pregnant as I was sick for six months!

Mine came in a lovely shade of grey but there are different coloured choices if you should be fussy about the colour! Chick was also less impressed with her camouflage set but the kids version also come in Pink or Blue.

I have two pairs of Sea Bands to give away one for adults and one for children. Just leave me a comment here telling me which pair you’d like and why. You don’t have to follow my blog or me on Facebook but if you would like too then that would be lovely J

Closing date is Friday, 5th November at 5pm.

Sea Bands are available to buy from Tesco, Waitrose, Sainsburys and Lloyds Pharmacy in the UK and retail at £7.99

In the US they are available at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens and RiteAid.

Toyologist Competition Carnival

This competition is now closed. Please keep checking back for more great giveaways!

Woo Hoo!!!! I t's my turn for the giveaway on the Competition Carnival today. The prize that I have for you is a Mould & Paint Glitter Fairy kit:

The set comes with 6 fairy moulds, magnets, pins, glitter, paint and enough powder plaster to make six fairies. Chick would have loved to have kept this but seeing as we only just made the Cute Cupcakes I managed to persuade her to give it up!! She did say that she liked the fact that the Fairies had their own names and that it came in a very girly box!

The Fairies can be made into fridge magnets or badges and this is definitely the kind of thing that I would buy Chick or her friends for a present and at £7.99 it's a good buy. It would also be a great activity for a small birthday party or sleepover.

To enter all you need to do if follow Toys R Us on Facebook and then leave me a comment saying that's what you've done.  It would also be fabulous if you are the winner if you could write a very short review for me!!! If you aren't on Facebook then feel free to follow me here instead!

Lansinoh Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed. Look out for another one coming this way very soon!!!

Sometimes when PR folk contact you they obviously haven't read your blog ever so well and offer you products that blatantly aren't any good for you! It was with some relief that the people from Lansinoh obviously had read my blog and recognised that breastfeeding products are no longer any use to me but they offered to send me some of their products for anyone that I knew that could use them or for you my lovely readers. I know that some of you are pregnant or are still feeding babies so this one is for you.

Lansinoh have given me three products to giveaway. The first one is the breast milk storage bags. Easy to use, Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags are made of food safe polyethylene and have a double seal to make storing milk simple.  They are also freezer safe and come with a useful tab for writing on, which lets you make a note of the date and volume of milk in each bag.

Also the Lansinoh nipple cream, which I'm sure most of us needed during the time we were nursing due to sore and cracked nipples!!  This cream has been specially developed to help with the healing process, is completely hypoallergenic and is great for those that suffer from sensitive skin. It is also the only lanolin to be approved by the British Allergy Foundation.

Last but not least are the disposable breast pads.  The Company say:

Let’s face it - every woman wants to feel their best and after you’ve had your baby it’s important to make sure you’re as confident as possible. If you are worried about leaking breastmilk, Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads take any moisture away from your breasts and prevent it from showing through onto your clothing.

The ultra thin, super absorbent contour of the pads allows for a natural fit that doesn’t show under tops and dresses. The pads have two non slip adhesive strips to secure them in place, giving you peace of mind that you will remain dry throughout the day or night.

The breast milk storage bags cost around £4.95 for 25 or £8.99 for 50.
The Lanolin cream is £9.95
The breast pads are £2.49 for 24 or £5.49 for 60

Visit the website at http://www.lansinoh.co.uk for local stockists which include Sainsburys, Boots, John Lewis and selected pharmacists.  Also available in the USA.

So if you or anyone you know would like to win all three then you just need to leave a comment below.  Would be great if you would like to follow me here, over at my main blog or on Facebook but I won’t make it compulsory this week!! The winner will also need to be happy for the PR company to contact them to see how they are getting on with the products.

Closing date is Friday, 8th October at 5pm.  Good Luck!!!

*Competition only open to UK residents....sorry!
